On this tour, you will encounter two types of Bath “food heroes”: the legendary food specialities that have left their mark on the city AND the innovative individuals who are driving the current culinary scene. Bath is in the “West Country”, a pastoral land of livestock farms, cider mills and Cheddar dairies. And nowhere will you experience these local tastes better than at the Saturday Bath Farmers Market. Graze the stalls from top to bottom and discover agricultural producers and creative food artisans, all from within a few miles of the city. The sampling won’t stop there during our gourmet walk; you will also be treated to a bakery, a coffee roaster, and yet another of Bath's artisan food producers, all of which are popular neighbourhood hot spots!

This historical trail, which is not your usual foodie tour, proved a great success at the Great Bath Feast in 2016 and has been revised and updated for GBF 2017!  It provides a first hand experience of the foods (and drink!), which the UK’s great World Heritage city of Bath has been responsible for over the centuries!  We’ll debunk some of the myths surrounding the spa water, and we’ll discover and sample foods that were created here and became popular in the 18th century.  You’ll also discover some of the lost, historical catering establishments from the city’s past, and hear what some of the great writers have said in relation to the culinary creations concocted in Bath!  Join the Savouring Bath team to discover Bath’s history by using your taste buds!

Mike James

A passionate tourism professional with over 25 years experience, and a desperate need to try new flavours wherever he goes. Mike is a Yorkshireman by birth who spent 14 years savouring the culinary diversity of London, but he has called Bath home since 2010 and with so many artisan producers here, he has no intention of moving on. He loves sharing his passion for Bath and its incredible history, but moreso, the amazing culinary industry which has emerged in the city over recent years, representing the resurgence of a food revolution which has happened here before!

Jennifer was a charming and most informative DELIGHT!
... My foodie heart is filled and my feet are tired but happy.

You are a gem, and I loved the way in which you presented the tour, with plenty of humour and energy!
- Francie72, Puyricard, France

Her tour is more than just a shopping trip to local food purveyors.
Jennifer explains the history behind the town, the people, the culture, and how it all impacts the food you try as you explore the city.

- Wordslinger81, Royal Oak, Michigan

Jennifer … has a wonderful way of bringing the information down to a personal level.
You don’t feel like you are some tour group being dragged from location to location.
You feel like a friend is taking you to see the places they love.

- DH, Washington DC
